At The Pray App, your prayers are sacred and private. We are committed to protecting your personal information and being transparent about what we collect and why. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address (via Sign in with Apple or email registration)
• Apple-provided user identifier (if using Sign in with Apple)

Prayer Content: The content you create in the app is stored to provide the service:

• Prayer cards and their text, categories, and schedules
• Journal entries and reflections
• Answered prayer records and notes
• Contact names you associate with prayers (stored locally only)

Usage Data: We collect anonymous usage data to improve the app:

• Feature usage patterns (which screens you visit, buttons you tap)
• App performance and crash reports
• Device type and operating system version
• Session duration and frequency

This data is collected through industry-standard analytics and crash reporting services. It does not include the content of your prayers or journal entries.

Subscription Information: The Pray App is fundamentally free. The free tier is designed to serve the vast majority of users indefinitely without any payment. Nobody is required to pay. The optional Supporter tier exists for users who reach the generous free limits or who simply want to help keep the app free for others. If you choose to become a Supporter, Apple processes your payment. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but never see your payment details.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• To sync your prayer cards and journal entries across your devices
• To provide prayer session features, streaks, and timeline statistics
• To process suggested Bible verses and journal prompts
• To respond to your support requests
• To analyze anonymous usage patterns and improve the app
• To detect and fix crashes and performance issues
• To verify your Supporter subscription status

Data Storage and Security

Your prayer content is stored in two places:

• On your device: For offline access and fast performance
• On secure cloud servers: For sync across devices and backup

We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Your prayers are stored in a secure database with row-level security, meaning only you can access your own data.

While we implement strong security measures, no system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but are committed to protecting your information.

What We Don't Do

We believe your prayers are between you and God. Here's what we commit to never doing:

• We don't sell your data. Ever. To anyone.
• We don't show ads. No targeted advertising, no ad networks.
• We don't read your prayers. Your content is encrypted and private.
• We don't share prayer content. It stays between you and God.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We may share limited information only in these circumstances:

• Service Providers: Cloud hosting, analytics, and crash reporting services that help us operate the app. These providers only process data as instructed and cannot use it for their own purposes.
• Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental regulation.
• Business Transfers: In connection with a merger or acquisition, your data would transfer to the new owner under the same privacy protections.

Third-Party Content Processing

Certain optional features in The Pray App use third-party services to process content you provide. These features include prayer summaries, bulk prayer creation from text, and daily Bible commentary. When you use these features, the text you submit is sent to third-party service providers (currently Anthropic and OpenAI) for on-demand processing.

Important details about this processing:

• On-demand only: Content is sent to third-party services only when you actively use one of these features. Content is not sent automatically or in the background.
• No storage by providers: The service providers do not retain your content after processing your request.
• No training: Your content is not used to train or improve third-party models.
• Optional: You can use The Pray App fully without these features. All core functionality, including creating prayer cards, praying through sessions, journaling, and tracking answered prayers, works without any third-party processing.

Your Rights and Choices

You have control over your personal information:

• Export Your Data: You can export all your prayer cards, journal entries, and account data from the Settings screen in the app.
• Delete Your Account: You can delete your account and all associated data from the Settings screen. This action is permanent.
• Access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correction: You may request correction of inaccurate information.

Children's Privacy

Our app is rated 4+ and suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent. Parents and guardians are encouraged to monitor their children's use of the app. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us and we will promptly delete such information.

International Users

If you are accessing our app from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located. By using our app, you consent to this transfer and processing.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy with a new effective date. Your continued use of the app after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
