Prayer list for family, what to pray for each person
· 2 min read
A prayer list for family with what to pray for parents, siblings, children, and extended family, plus Scripture to pray and a way to keep it going each week.

A prayer list for family helps you pray for each person by name instead of praying “bless my family” in general. Write one person per line, add one need, and choose a few Scripture prayers you can pray for all of them.
What goes on a prayer list for family?
A prayer list for family is a written list with one family member per line and one specific need beside each name, like “Dad, peace at work this week.” It is a list to copy and fill in, not a method. Add each person, choose a need for this season, and add a few Scripture prayers you can pray for all of them. Then decide which names come up daily and which come up weekly.
A family prayer list you can copy
Mom, health and joy
Dad, wisdom at work
My brother, to come to faith
My sister, good friends at college
My grandparents, peace as they get older
Our home, patience and kindness
What to pray for each family member
- That they would know God. Pray for their salvation and their faith to grow (Colossians 1:9-10).
- Their health. Pray for strength and healing (3 John 2).
- Their work or school. Pray for wisdom and faithfulness in what they do.
- Their relationships. Pray for good friends and a church family.
- A specific need this week. Ask them, then write it down.
Scripture to pray over your family
Numbers 6:24-26 is a blessing you can pray for anyone: that the Lord would bless them and keep them, make His face shine on them, and give them peace.
Ephesians 3:16-19 asks that they would be strengthened by the Spirit and know the love of Christ. Philippians 1:9-11 asks that their love would grow in knowledge and depth.
Pray for your home
Pray for your household together, not only for each person. Ask for patience, kindness, and forgiveness when you hurt each other (Ephesians 4:32). Joshua said, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).
Keep it going each week
Not everyone needs to come up every day. Pray for the people you live with daily and others once or twice a week. Each day’s list stays short. See how to choose how often a prayer comes up, and for more ideas, see how to pray for your family.

Paste your family prayer list into The Pray App, and each line becomes a prayer card with a short prayer and a category like Family or Health. Tag each person from your contacts so their name shows while you pray.
Each name and need becomes its own prayer card.
