A Jesus prayer app helps you pray the way Jesus taught: to the Father, in His name, with your real needs and the people you love. The Pray App keeps that simple, with prayer cards for each request, a Bible verse on each, and a place to look back on how God has answered.

What does it mean to pray in Jesus’ name?

Praying in Jesus’ name means coming to the Father because of who Jesus is and what He has done for us, not because of anything we’ve earned. It means asking for what fits His character and will. Jesus said, “Whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you” (John 16:23, ESV). “In Jesus’ name” isn’t a closing formula. It’s the reason we can pray at all.

How did Jesus pray?

Jesus prayed often, alone and early. “Rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed” (Mark 1:35, ESV). He prayed for His disciples by name (Luke 22:32) and for all who would believe in Him (John 17:20). In Gethsemane He prayed honestly, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done” (Luke 22:42, ESV).

Jesus still prays for His people now. “He always lives to make intercession for them” (Hebrews 7:25, ESV).

How did Jesus teach us to pray?

Jesus taught His disciples a pattern for prayer, the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13). It begins with God’s name, His kingdom, and His will, then asks for daily bread, forgiveness, and protection from evil. He also taught persistence: He told a parable “to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart” (Luke 18:1, ESV). And He warned against empty words: “do not heap up empty phrases” (Matthew 6:7, ESV).

What is the Jesus Prayer?

The Jesus Prayer is a short, ancient prayer: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” It grew up in the Eastern church, and its words come straight from Scripture. The tax collector prayed, “God, be merciful to me, a sinner” (Luke 18:13, ESV), and the blind man cried, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me” (Luke 18:38, ESV).

The Jesus Prayer is best prayed as a sincere request from the heart, not repeated as a formula (Matthew 6:7). You can keep it as a prayer card and pray it at the start of each time of prayer.

How does The Pray App help you pray in Jesus’ name?

The Pray App keeps the people and needs you bring to God as prayer cards. On Home, tap New prayer card, write your prayer, and add who you’re Praying for, how often it comes up under Repeat, and a Bible verse. Each day, Today shows the cards that are due. Tap Start praying and go through them one at a time.

A prayer card for Michael’s healing after surgery, with Psalm 147:3 A prayer, the person it’s for, and a verse on one card.

When you finish, the summary lists the people you prayed for, with a message button to tell them. When God answers, tap Answered and write how. It moves to Stones of Remembrance in Journey.

Is The Pray App right for you?

The Pray App fits Christians who want to pray to the Father in Jesus’ name for specific people and needs every day, with Scripture in front of them, on an iPhone. It doesn’t offer audio prayers, chant guides, or prayer beads. For a daily rhythm, see daily prayer app, and for the Bible’s own prayers, see biblical prayer app.

The Pray App is free on the App Store, with no ads. See how to pray through today’s cards.
