An AI prayer app uses artificial intelligence to help with the work around prayer, like turning a messy list into organized requests. It can’t pray for you. The Pray App uses AI in two optional places, organizing a pasted prayer list into prayer cards and explaining a Bible passage, and only when you ask it to.

What can AI do in a prayer app?

AI in a prayer app can help with the practical work around prayer. It can turn a pasted list into separate requests, suggest a short prayer to start from, sort requests into categories, and explain a Bible passage in plain words. What it can’t do is pray. Prayer is a person talking with God through Jesus Christ, and no tool can do that for you.

Can AI pray for you?

AI can’t pray for you, because prayer is personal communion with God. Jesus said, “When you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret” (Matthew 6:6, ESV). God invites us to “pour out your heart before him” (Psalm 62:8, ESV). When we don’t know what to say, God gives help that no app can: “the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words” (Romans 8:26, ESV).

A drafted prayer is like a prayer written in a book or on a card. It can give you words to start with. The praying still happens when you bring it to God yourself.

How should Christians test what AI writes?

Anything AI writes about God or prayer should be tested against Scripture. “Test everything; hold fast what is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21, ESV). The Bereans “received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so” (Acts 17:11, ESV).

How does The Pray App use AI?

The Pray App uses AI only in two optional features:

Review Prayers with drafted prayer cards, each with a category and the people it mentions Every drafted card is yours to check and edit before you save it.

These features send the text you give them to an AI provider only when you use them, and that content isn’t used to train AI models. Everything else stays in your prayer list, which is encrypted, and we don’t read it personally. You can write every card yourself with New prayer card and never use AI at all.

Is The Pray App right for you?

The Pray App fits Christians who want help organizing their prayer list without handing prayer itself to a machine, on an iPhone. It doesn’t chat with you, generate devotionals, or pray on your behalf. If you want AI to take a pasted list and give you cards you then pray yourself, it was built for that. See how to add many prayers at once and guided prayer app.

The Pray App is free on the App Store, with no ads. Read our privacy policy for how these features handle your text.

Questions people ask

Can AI pray for me?

No. Prayer is you talking with God through Jesus Christ. AI can help organize your list or suggest words to start with, but the praying is yours.

How does The Pray App use AI?

Two optional features use AI. Generate Prayers turns a pasted list into prayer cards with a short prayer, a category, and the people mentioned, and daily Bible commentary explains a passage. Each sends the text you give it to an AI provider only when you use it.

Is my prayer list used to train AI?

No. Our privacy policy says content you submit to these optional features is not used to train or improve third-party models.

Can I use The Pray App without AI?

Yes. Write each prayer card yourself with New prayer card, and skip the commentary. AI only runs when you tap Generate Prayers or open commentary.
